Topic 5: Adverbs
Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They provide additional information about how, when, where, or to what extent something happens. Here are the main types of adverbs:
1. Adverbs of Manner: Describe how an action is performed (e.g., quickly, happily, carefully).
2. Adverbs of Time: Indicate when an action occurs (e.g., now, yesterday, soon).
3. Adverbs of Place: Indicate where an action occurs (e.g., here, there, everywhere).
4. Adverbs of Frequency: Indicate how often an action occurs (e.g., always, never, sometimes).
5. Adverbs of Degree: Indicate the intensity or degree of an action, adjective, or another adverb (e.g., very, quite, too).
6. Adverbs of Reason: Explain why an action occurs (e.g., therefore, thus, because).
7. Interrogative Adverbs: Used to ask questions (e.g., how, when, where, why).
8. Relative Adverbs: Introduce a clause and relate it to the rest of the sentence (e.g., where, when, why).
